Day 10
Rome II - Day 10
The day started at a painful time of 6:45 am because we had to eat breakfast and catch our bus at 8:00am. The bus took us to Rome, where our day's journey began. To start, we walked through The Roman Forum, a historical and magnificent site in the middle of the city. It was the most important square in roman history that involved the Senate, the spot where Marc Anthony had his famous speech, Julius Caesar's temple as well as many tombs and areas where markets used to take place. After this cool spot we headed for Trastevere, an area across the river. It was thanks to Ricky that we were able to appreciate this area's full potential. To end the day, we bought our daily gelato, Graeme's loaf of bread and headed back to the bus. Graeme will give you the low down tomorrow after we visit the Vatican City. Graeme believes he can get a blessing from the pope, so stay tuned! This has been Matthew (clearly your favourite updater) ;}
Italian Word of the Day: accappatoio means robe (Dad and Graeme's favourite feature of the hotel.....wearing them everywhere......despite mom asking them to de-robe!)
