Day 11
Vatican City - Day 11
Well, no blessing from the Pope, so Graeme is passing tonight on his turn....
The day started well. A ride on the metro to get to Vatican City (Alyssa and Matt are "tube riding" experts thanks to the London underground!). Surprisingly a quick line at the Vatican Museums (the Pope runs a tight ship!). Greg certainly enjoyed this aspect of the day!
We went from the museums to the Sistine Chapel and then over to St. Peter's Basilica.
WoW! The artifacts, sculptures and artwork are all unbelievable.
We've decided that everyone will give a 'quote of the day' for today's write-up:
Graeme: "Where is the Pope?"
Micki: "In the mid 1500's, the Pope insisted that the ancient sculptures have fig leaves added in appropriate locations ......awkward."
Greg: "After a walk through time and viewing all the magnificent Catholic artifacts, I am ready to sign-up"
Alyssa: "Wait, Michelangelo is all one word?"
Matthew: "Spectacular and life-changing.....highly recommended"
Tomorrow we are off to the Amalfi Coast (another airbnb so be patient with our lack of wifi once again).
Love to everyone from the Rome-ing Staples!!!
Italian Word of the Day: Papa means Pope! This puts a whole new light on Papa Jack.......
