Day 4
Day 4 of the Staples Italy Adventure was a success. Before you ask, mom’s sun burn situation is positive as she is feeling a lot better. Today we embarked on a journey to the city of La Spezia, which is the most modern city we have visited so far on this trip. Parking was difficult to find but luckily we had Alyssa with us who was able to scout an empty spot. We first went to the Royal Naval Museum, which was conveniently just across the road from where we parked. After enjoying a little history lesson we found a square, with a variety of different shops. We grabbed some lunch and were attacked by pigeons because someone in the family instigated the situation (you can probably guess who I'm talking about). Next we all enjoyed our favourite treat (Gelato) and headed down a boardwalk right beside the sea. After attempting (and failing) to find the city’s visitor center, we found a bar and pool instead were we were able to chill and relax. After returning to home base, Curly, Larry and Mo went exploring, while the ladies decided to rest. Now we are deciding weather to go up or down the mountain here in La Serra (I bet either option is good!). Graeme will update you on how the Staples family survives tomorrow. Until then, Matthew is out.
Italian Word of the Day: Salvataggio (means lifeguard, which from what we have seen so far are fairly laid back…..the one today sat at the bar and watched the pool from his barstool!)
PS to Lorna: The sea glass hunt has begun, and we will be bringing home a few Italian treasures!
