Day 28
Day 28- Venice II
For our second day in Venice we decided to take to the water! So, we spent the day cruising the canals and exploring the offshore islands including Lido, Burano and Murano (Greg wants me to point out that he noticed the island names are VERY similar ...just change the B and the M!). Lido is the island of beaches.....Burano is the island of colourful houses.....and Murano is the island of glass.
We started the day with a cruise down the Grand Canal. It was fantastic to see the structures, homes and hotels from the canal side. The architecture from building to building can be drastically different ...... and of course the real estate costs for living on the canal are out of this world ! Every building of course has a walk-out right to the waters edge.... ready for a boat, water taxi or gondola to arrive!
After that, we travelled to the other islands. We had a great day cruising and exploring as you can see from the pictures of the day! I want to point out that one of the purposes of going to Murano was to see glass blowers at work....instead we saw 200 stores selling glass and it was in BURANO that we actually saw glass work in action :)
Count down to our flight time is on....and the end of our journey is drawing near :(
Love you all,
