Day 8
Day 8 - Pisa En Route to Rome
A new beginning of sorts, sadly our time in La Serra has come to an end and we are saying goodbye to our mountain retreat. The five of us reconvened into the little red car (I have a special nick-name for it, but Micki won't let me share...) for a day on the road, with a pitstop in Pisa. Pisa is indeed incredible, the "Square of Miracles" was amazing. Who knew there was more than a leaning tower there? There was also the Pisa Cathedral, the Baptistry of San Giovanni, a Monumental and the Leaning Tower (all of which are surrounded by a great wall.....not THE great wall however!). Everything is made of marble with very ornate carvings and decorations.
Back in the car (after the daily dose of Gelato), we had many spirited word games so that the kids would NOT realize how actually cramped and crowded it is in the back seat for 3 1/2 hours! At one point they actually were all asleep...... nice!
All roads lead to Rome....and so we made it!
We are expecting a very different adventure for the next 4 days.
Pisa out.....

Italian Word of the Day : GRAZIE means thank you (I keep saying gracias, which Micki points out is Spanish for thank you and probably slightly offensive to the Italians.... oh well.)
