Day 3
Today you have the pleasure of an “Alyssa-Update”. I’m stepping in today due to Mom’s sunburn, Dad’s lack of interest and Graeme’s lack of knowledge. Stay tuned for a Matthew update tomorrow. Today we had a bit of a sleep-in in the morning (gotta let the jet legged members of the family catch up) and then had a delicious assorted breakfast. Mom and Dad went on a grocery expedition in the morning and stocked up for the next few days. Around noon we headed off to Levanto where we spent the afternoon at the beach. The drive there was nothing short of an adventure, with the three of us glaring out the window, and mom with her eyes tightly shut, Dad expertly navigated the windy road that lead down the side of the cliff. Dad has taken to calling himself Niki Lauda… The waterfront was beautiful, super blue water and mountainous hills on either side. We were in and out of the water many, many times due to the intense heat. The boys and I spent our time out of the water playing a very friendly, non-competitive game of cards while mom and dad read their books. Once we felt we had absorbed a weeks worth of vitamin D, we headed back into town in search of Gelato. The boys and I have decided that gelato should be a daily routine for the next 28 days, we’re still working on convincing mom… In the evening we explored the town of Lerici, which is the closest town to where we’re staying. It’s right at the waters edge and includes colourful buildings; a massive marina and a castle perched on a hill. The boys and myself went up to “storm” the castle; dad quoted the Princess Bride the whole way up… We’re all having an amazing time, Matthew will update you on everyone’s sunburn status tomorrow…
Love Alyssa
